Nominations due Friday, Jan. 19

**Please note that after consultation with the SD County Office of Education, it's been confirmed that Special Education Resource Teachers, CDC teachers and preschool teachers are eligible for County Teacher of the Year as long as their primary role is working with students (and they have been a teacher for nine or more years). Since the district follows the County's guidelines, these teachers are now eligible for District Teacher of the Year as well.

Schools are invited to recognize and honor excellence by nominating a Teacher of the Year for 2018.

Quality teachers provide the foundation for student learning and achievement, supporting the district’s mission that all students will graduate with the skills, motivation, curiosity and resilience to succeed and be active participants in society. Effective teaching in every classroom is central to Vision 2020 and creating Quality Schools in Every Neighborhood.

Is there a teacher at your site that stands out and embodies the principles of quality teaching?

Instructions are posted in Administrative Circular 30 . If you would like your Site Teacher of the Year nominee to have the opportunity to apply for District Teacher of the Year, we recommend you submit their name by Friday, Jan. 19 (or shortly thereafter) so they have enough time to complete the application (which is due Feb. 21). Site Teacher of the Year nominations will be accepted through April 27, 2018.

Please note that nominations are being accepted online this year at . The process requires voting at the school site by teachers and nomination must be approved by the school site's SDEA Rep and/or principal. All nominated teachers will be recognized at the Teacher of the Year ceremony on Tues., May 8, 2018.

Site Teacher of the Year nominees are strongly encouraged to apply for District Teacher of the Year (if they meet eligibility requirements). District Teachers of the Year and Runners-up then qualify to enter the County level competition.
