8/14 School websites, requests for assistance and using social media to promote your school

Dear Principals:

As we prepare for the 17-18 school year, it’s important that current parents, prospective parents and the community can access current information about your school. Your school website is one avenue; the other is social media. 

Please review your school website to make sure that it has current information with particular focus on the following areas: 

  • Contact information: phone / fax
  • Principal / staff
  • Leadership
  • Bell schedule 
  • Calendar
  • Photos
  • School safety
  • Volunteer info

If you or a staff member needs assistance with your website, please visit the Web Content Management page on the Staff Portal to find job aids and request assistance (Web Editor Access and general Website Assistance).

If your school is not yet on social media, please consider starting either a Facebook or Twitter account this year. As you may know, a growing number of parents are looking to social media for information. This is not only a great platform to provide information, but also to engage with parents.
