3/17 - SANDAG's 2017 Walk, Ride, and Roll to School Mini-Grant Program - $1,500 for each program/project available

The SANDAG iCommute team is now accepting applications for the 2017 Walk, Ride, and Roll to School Mini-Grant Program in support of active transportation and safe routes to school.

Program eligibility: iCommute will award mini-grants of up to $1,500 each for programs or projects that educate and encourage active forms of transportation to and from school, and that promote pedestrian and bike safety around schools. Eligible applicants include public or private K-12 schools or school districts, K-12 after school programs, or community based organizations applying on behalf of schools.  A total of $30,000 in grant funding is available.

Creativity is encouraged. Projects and programs may include:

* Events or fairs that promote and encourage students to walk or bike to school

* Bike rodeos, safety obstacle courses, or safety classes for students

* A walking school bus or bike train program

* Contests that challenge and reward students for active transportation

* Bike racks (if incorporated as part of a larger bike safety or education program)

* School murals or art projects that promote active transportation

Grant application details: To apply, download the Request for Grant Applications package at www.iCommuteSD.com/school.  Completed application forms should be submitted to iCommuteGrants@sandag.org no later than 5 p.m. PT on Friday, April 21. Schools will receive approval notice by May 12, and must host their funded event or program during the 2017-2018 school year.
