11/17 UC San Diego and SDUSD Gifted and Talented Education Tranings

In partnership with San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD), the Department of Education and Behavioral Sciences (DEBS) at UC San Diego Extension is pleased to offer a blended onsite/online two-course series of professional development trainings in Gifted and Talented Education (GATE). The GATE series will begin in January and will conclude in May, 2018.

Features of the program include:

  • Focus on Brain-Compatible Teaching and Learning; Socioemotional Needs; and Differentiated Instruction for diverse gifted learners
  • SDUSD priorities incorporated into trainings, including working with parents and communities
  • Courses to be offered in a blended format: onsite at SDUSD and online through Extension’s Blackboard platform
  • Low cost: $200 per course, for a total cost of $400 for the series
  • All course materials provided without charge to teachers
  • Concierge service provided by DEBS (registration, enrollment, etc.)
  • Six units of transcripted salary-scale applicable academic credit for completing the series
  • Award of completion and culminating ceremony held at SDUSD
