10/10 - Secure Browser for the 2016-17 CAASPP Test Administration

ITSS is ready to begin the installation of the Secure Browser for 2016-17 CAASPP test administration.  Please review the following information.

Windows devices:  The ITSS Team will begin to push out the Secure Browser to all i21 Windows devices this Friday, October 14, 2016.  The push may take several days to appear on the computers.
•        Computers must be turned on and actively being used for installation to occur.
•        The installation will remove the previous version (8.0) and install the current version (9.0).
•        Installation will happen in the background with no need for any intervention and will not affect the use of the computer.
•        Upon successful installation, a shortcut icon will appear on the desktop.  The icon looks the same as last year. To ensure the new secure browser has been installed, click on the icon and confirm that v 9.0 is displayed on the student login screen.

Chromebooks:  The new secure browser will be updated automatically on student Chromebooks.  If the device has not been used since the beginning of the school year updates may be necessary before the testing software will function. With active use of the Chromebooks, the necessary updates will download and apply on the next restart. You can also manually trigger any updates by completing the following steps:

1.     While logged into a Chromebook, click the status area, where your account picture appears.
2.     Click Settings and then About Chrome OS.
3.     In the "About" window that appears, click Check for and apply updates. Your Chromebook will start to install any available updates.
4.      After the updates are installed, click Restart to update.

iPads:  The AIR Secure Test App for iPads is not available yet.  We strongly encourage sites to update iPads to the latest iOs 9.3.5.  Additional information regarding iPads will be sent as it becomes available.
