Information Technology (IT) Team


Part of Integrated Technology Support Services, the Information Technology Team is comprised of a number of areas, including:
The network supports over 65,000 devices including desktops, laptops, network appliances, printers, and servers.
 

Mission

The mission of the Information Technology (IT) Team is to support education by providing effective technology solutions that support students and staff. The IT Team values service, integrity and leadership and is committed to improving service by implementing defined, repeatable and measurable processes and procedures aligned with industry best practices.
 

Goals

The team's goals are to:
  • Provide students and staff with effective, safe, state-of-the-art technologies.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, training and support.
  • Support digital learning to align with the Superintendent’s goals for the academic achievement of our students.
  • Provide efficient student and business applications to facilitate communication, collaboration, and sharing of information across the district.
  • Operate efficiently using technology to streamline processes and improve cost effectiveness of operations.
  • Effectively manage technology projects for timely implementation of systems and processes that support and improve student achievement.
  • Leverage technology partnerships to benefit students and staff.

Function

The IT Team develops, supports and maintains software applications that manage data and information for a wide array of district functions. Chief among these are:
  • Human Resources (PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management - HCM)
  • Financial Management (PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management)
  • Procurement (PeopleSoft Enterprise Services Procurement)
  • Student Information (PowerSchool)
  • Special Education Student Information (SEAS)
  • Document and Project Collaboration (Microsoft SharePoint)
  • Web Content Management (Drupal and Microsoft Office SharePoint Services)
  • Business Intelligence and Performance Management (Oracle Business Intelligence)
  • Email (Microsoft Exchange Server and Outlook Web Access)
In addition, the team supports a variety of technologies and equipment, including:
  • Computer Operations Center with 500+ Servers
  • Data communications equipment
  • Check printing
  • Power distribution centers
  • HVAC
  • Wireless technologies
  • Voice Over IP (VOIP)
  • Video conferencing
  • Online meeting technology
  • Voice Mail
  • Cell Phones

The team operates in compliance with the Education Code, HIPAA, CIPA and individual software licensing requirements. All systems are redundant to ensure high availability. The district's technology infrastructure also supports integrated data, voice, video and ancillary systems. Most applications are available through a secure connection via the internet for anytime, anywhere access.

Facilities

The IT Team currently has two main facilities. The Eugene Brucker Education Center houses the majority of the IT staff along with the main data center. In addition, there is a training center on the campus of the former Fremont Elementary School. The team is also in the process of building a Disaster Recovery Center at the Serra High School campus.
