What is the PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal?
The PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal is a website parents and students can use to view attendance, assignments, and other academic information. The portal is accessible from any computer or device with an internet connection.
 
What is the web address for PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal?

I don't have internet access at home. How can I access the Parent/Student Portal?
You can access the Parent/Student Portal from any device with Internet access, such as a cell phone or computer. Many public libraries have computers available for you to use.
 
Who do I contact for my Parent Portal access?
Contact your child's school for access information. A confidential Access ID and Password is required to link your child's data to your parent account. Setup instructions are provided on the portal sign in page.
 
Where can I find help to create my account?
Parent Portal Login Page The sign in page of the Parent Portal contains two links for assistance. Watch the short video tutorial in English or Español or follow the instruction sheet Create an Account Instructions to create an account.

 

Most students in grade levels TK-12 should already have an account.

 
Can I change my password?
Yes, parents can change their password. After you sign in to the Parent Portal, go to Account Preferences where you can change your password. Record it and keep it somewhere safe and private so you have it when you need it.
 
What if I forgot my username or password?
Parent Portal Login Page Use the link, Forgot Username or Password, located on the sign in page of the Parent Portal.
 
Do I need a new username and password each year if my child is returning to the same school?
No. All sign in and access information remains the same as long as your child's enrollment is active at any district school, and the school has enabled the Parent/Student Portal.
 
What happens to my access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal if my child transfers schools within the district?
You retain your Parent Portal account. Your child will remain linked to your account as long as enrollment continues with San Diego Unified. Contact your child's school if you have any questions.
 
Can I use the PowerSchool Mobile app?
iPhone with mobile app photoYes, find out how to download and install the mobile app on your device. Please note, you must have a Parent/Student Portal account to use the mobile app. If you can login to the Parent/Student Portal website, you should be able to login to the mobile app!
 
Where can I find the code for the PowerSchool Mobile app?
Find the code for San Diego Unified School District by logging into the PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal and then look near the bottom of the page.

 

Instead of entering the code, you may also select Where's My District Code? and then search for San Diego Unified School District in the list of districts for California. Or enter the Server Address or URL powerschool.sandi.net

General Information

 
What can I see in the PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal?
Parents and students can view attendance, assignments, state scores for assessments such as CAASP and ELPAC, and other academic information based on their child's grade level. Each school has the ability to control some of the information available for parents and students. This information can vary from school to school.
 
What can I see in the PowerSchool Mobile app?
Parents and students see similar information on both the PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal website and the PowerSchool mobile app. However, certain features available on the Parent/Student Portal website are not available on the mobile app.
 
Is the Parent Portal the same as the Student Portal?
When parents and students access the Parent/Student Portal, they see the same academic information. Parents may have access to additional features that are not provided to students. Students may, similarly, have access to some features that are not provided to parents.
 
Is the system secure?
Yes. The Parent/Student Portal is hosted through PowerSchool, our secure Student Information System (SIS). Your child's records can only be accessed by authorized school officials.

 

Do not share your username and password with anyone else. Keep this information secure.

 
Can other people see my child's grades and information?
No. Each child is assigned a unique Access ID and Password and it is only shared with the parent/guardian(s) listed on your child's enrollment form. If for any reason you believe your information was compromised, change your password and call the school to request that the Access ID and Password be changed.

I have multiple children in the district. Can I have access to all of their information under just one username and password?
Yes. You will need the Access ID and Password for each child.

 

When you create your account, you will use your child's Access ID and Password to access information through your account. If you need to add another child later, simply sign in to your portal, go to Account Preferences and add them through the Students tab.

 
My husband/wife and I are separated/divorced. Can we each have our own parent account?
Each parent/guardian listed on the enrollment form will be given the Access ID and Password for their child's data. Each parent can create their own account with a unique email address and password. Instructions to create an account can be found on the sign in page of the Parent Portal.
 
Why do I see a message that the Parent/Student Portal is closed?
Sometimes schools disable the Parent/Student Portal. It is common for schools to temporarily disable the Parent/Student Portal during the last week of the grading period when teachers are finalizing grades. During the summer, the Parent/Student Portal is closed while schools work on setting up schedules for the upcoming school year.
 
Is the Parent/Student Portal turned off during the summer?
Yes, the Parent/Student Portal is disabled for all schools over the summer. Some schools will choose to enable the portal prior to the start of school so families can view student schedules.
 
Do all teachers post grade and attendance information?
Attendance information is posted daily by teachers and the school site office. However, updates to assignment scores and grades vary by teacher. If you see grades for some teachers but not others, do not be alarmed. Get to know your child's teacher and their methods of grading. Email the teacher with any questions you may have. You can locate the teacher's email address on the Grades and Attendance page from within the Parent/Student Portal.
 
How often can we expect grades to be updated?
Your child's grade level generally determines the academic information view. Standards-based grades for elementary students are updated for each of the three grading periods. Parents of secondary students can view current grades and assignment scores as teachers update their gradebook. Teacher updates to assignments scores vary. Progress reports and final grades are updated based on each schools grading period or Term.
 
I am expecting to see a grade for an assignment/test my child took today, why is it not posted?
Several factors may cause a delay in the posting of grades. In some cases, grades may be reviewed with students before the teacher makes the grades available in the portal. Some teachers post grades for tests only after all students have had a chance to take the test. A student's absence may also cause a delay in the grading of assignments/tests. Please feel free to contact your child's teacher if there are any questions regarding grade policies in a particular class.
 
When I look at my child's grades and average them I am getting a different grade then what is listed in the Parent Portal. Why is that?
Teachers may use a weighting system on grades where tests carry a different weight from homework and quizzes. Please refer to the grading policy for that class.
 
I have questions about the information I see regarding my child's grades or attendance. Who should I contact?
We encourage you to talk to your child about your concerns, if appropriate, and then contact your child's teacher by phone or by email if needed.
