Foundation Meetings

The Torrey Pines Elementary School Foundation, also known as T.P.E.S.F, supports the school in many ways. The primary function of the Foundation is to fund raise to cover the cost of items or services not provided by the school district. Funds are raised through direct solicitation, an annual school carnival and other fundraisers to support school programs such as choral music, computer lab, physical education program and our art program. In addition to raising money, Foundation parents organize an International Culture Fair, Science Discovery Day, a school dance and other exciting events. Foundation Meetings are held once a month. All parents are welcome to attend. Please visit the Foundation website at: www.tpesfoundation.org

Newsletter

A newletter called Branching Out is published monthly by the Foundation. The newsletter includes messages from the Principal, the Foundation and information about events on campus.

Open House

There are two open houses held during the school year. The fall open house takes place in September. It is a chance for parents to meet the teachers and learn about what will be covered during the school year. The spring open house takes place in May. It is a chance for students to showcase the work they have done in the classrooms to their parents.

Parent Conferences

Formal Parent Conferences are held during the first two report card periods (in November and February) . On parent confernce days, school is dismissed at 12:50 PM. Parent conferences are an opportunity to review your child's progress with their teacher. Additional conferences can be arranged directly with your child's teacher as needed.

School Calendar

At the beginning of the school year a master calendar is sent home with your student. The calendar contains important dates for the Back-to-School night, testing dates, Open House and school concerts.

Spirit Assemblies

Once a month, the principal conducts an assembly to recognize student achievement and disseminate important school information. Individual classrooms and students groups also give presentations on occasion. Assemblies start promptly at 9:10 and last approximately 15 minutes.

Tuesday Envelopes

On Tuesdays, a manila envelope is sent home with each student. Please review the items in the envelope, sign it and return it with your student on Wednesday.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering at the school is a great way to keep informed about what is going on at the school. Parent Volunteers are an essential component to the success of our school. Please contact the Foundation's Volunteer Coordinator if you are available to help. A limited number of volunteer positions may be available in your child's classroom. Contact your child's teacher for additional volunteering opportunities. Volunteers in the classroom who volunteer on a regular basis must have a Volunteer Application and a copy of a Tuberculosis test (taken within the last 4 years) on file with the school.
