STAR Update
Dear Principals and/or STAR Test Site Coordinators:
Mathematics test questions 50 (page 60) and 51 (page 61) in Version 14 of the California Mathematics Standards Test for Grade 7 contain answer choice letters that do not match the answer document. The answer documents are correct. No other versions of the test are impacted.
Before administering the test, test examiners should instruct students who have version 14 of the Grade 7 mathematics test to change the option letters in the test booklet for these two items. Attached are the instructions to distribute to your test examiners.
Please note that questions 50 and 51 in the Version 14 test booklet are field test items and will have no impact on student scores.
* Note: This correction page is also on our "Files to Download" page.

STAR Update
Dear STAR Site Test Coordinators for TRADITIONAL calendar schools:
It was just brought to our attention that page A-52 in the Annotated STAR Coordinator Manual (astro bright red cover) is a duplicate of page A-50. Please remove page A-52 from the manual and replace it with the attachment. I apologize for the confusion.
Please contact me if you have any questions.

Dear STAR Site Test Coordinators,
Many of you are in the midst of preparing your school’s STAR test materials for the upcoming testing period. Our district and your school may get reimbursed for certain aspects of STAR training, pre-test and post-test coordination, test administration, and record-keeping. As such, I would like to make you aware of some related items:
1) Mandated Cost Unit has made revisions to this year’s reimbursable activities time log. Please review the reimbursable activities either on the time log that was included in the draft Administrative Circular (attachment E) that you received at training, or on the district website at http://www.sandi.net/depts/mandated_cost/index.html#logs
2) Your school is eligible to receive 50 percent of the district's paid reimbursement claim that is attributable to submitted time logs. We need a completed time log in order to provide the reimbursement!
3) Classroom teachers’ time for administering the tests is not eligible to be reimbursed if the test is given during normal classroom hours.
4) Most STAR time logs are completed by STAR school site coordinators, school administrators, clerical staff, and other support staff (such as custodians who may help with handling the test material delivery.)
5) Please include on your time logs the amount of time spent on all STAR tests, except for the STAR Writing test and the Aprenda 3 test. (These two tests are not counted for the purpose of Mandated Cost Unit tracking.)
If you have any questions or comments regarding the Mandate Reimbursement Incentive Program, please contact Brian Bailey from the Mandated Cost Unit at (619) 725-7567 or bbailey1@sandi.net .
Thank you. |

STAR Update
Dear Principals and/or STAR Coordinators:
At the STAR Nuts & Bolts trainings, you may have received a gray envelope containing a roster of CAPA students who were misidentified in the initial Pre-ID file. New Pre-ID labels have been generated and placed on blank answer documents for these students. The correct answer documents are now available for pick up from Annex 3 anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday though Friday. The old, incorrect answer documents for these students should be pulled, VOIDED, and returned in your NONSCORABLE materials.
If you did not receive a gray envelope, you do NOT have any students that were misidentified. If you attended the Nuts & Bolts training, yesterday, April 15th, you should have received your correct answer documents at the meeting.
If you have any questions you can contact me or Denise Ormsbee at:
(619) 725-7059 or dormsbee@sandi.net.

STAR Update
Dear Principals and/or STAR Site Test Coordinators at 4x4 Schools:
As you know, STAR testing is right around the corner and we need your help to verify counts for the California Standards Tests (CSTs) in mathematics and science. Students in schools on a 4x4 schedule who will have completed two mathematics courses or two science courses during the school year- one during the fall semester and one during the spring semester- will take the CST for math or science for the course being completed during the spring semester. For example, if a student at your school completed the year-long course of Algebra (Algebra 1,2) during the fall semester and is currently taking the year-long course of Geometry (Geometry 1,2), they should take the Geometry CST.
Attached are two spreadsheets- one for math and one for science- that include the counts for each CST by grade level (based on graduation year/”class of”) by school. Please review the counts for your school and compare them with your records. Please note that the course for Algebra II (listed in spreadsheet) is Intermediate Algebra for SDUSD students.
* These spreadsheets are also available on our "Files to Download" page of website.
Notify Denise Ormsbee at dormsbee@sandi.net or (619) 725-7059 if the numbers we have listed are incorrect. We might need to submit a supplemental order for your school and need to do so ASAP. If we do not hear from you be next Wednesday, April 9th, we will assume your counts are correct.
Thank you for your assistance. |
