STAR Update

Dear STAR Coordinators:
 
For the STAR Writing (grades 4 & 7) there was a glitch when the Pre-ID file was submitted to the publisher resulting in missing Pre-ID’d answer booklets for some of your students.  The testing publisher has agreed to provide Pre-ID labels for these students.  However, we will not receive the labels until Tuesday, March 4th.  
 
Therefore, we need you to write in the student’s name (box 5) and ID (box 11) on the answer booklets for us.  It is unnecessary to hand-grid the bubbles- just write in the information.  Please put these answer booklets on top of your pile of scorable answer booklets when you pack your materials for return. We (Assessment Services) will affix the Pre-ID labels for these answer booklets after you return them to Annex 10 on March 5th.

Please print a copy of the attached revised Scorable Packing Diagram for STAR Gr. 4 & 7 Writing for use when packing your materials:  

• Use ONLY the attached revised document when you are packing your Scorable response booklets.
  

This revised version now provides correct information about "Declined to Participate" response booklets being SCORABLE booklets.
Destroy/do not use the BLUE handout you received at the Nuts & Bolts training.  (Be sure to copy any notes you made onto the revised copy before destroying the BLUE copy.)

As I promised those of you who attended the 2/21 Nuts & Bolts meeting, attached are "job aids" to assist in your Site Coordinator tasks for next week's STAR Writing administration.

For those of you attending today's Nuts & Bolts session, I'll refer to these files which are optional to use.  Erin will be introducing me today.  I will be assisting Erin through all STAR testing windows.  I look forward to seeing you this afternoon.

STAR Update

Dear Principals and/or STAR Coordinators:
 
The STAR Writing test materials and the Early Assessment Program (EAP) Essay materials have arrived in the district.  They will be delivered via regular truck delivery beginning TODAY, February 25 and should be at all schools by Friday, February 29.  Please alert your BSS to the impending arrival of these materials.  If any schools would like to pick up their STAR Writing test materials earlier than their truck delivery day, you must contact Denise Ormsbee at (619) 725-7059 or dormsbee@sandi.net.  DO NOT CONTACT THE IMC WAREHOUSE DIRECTLY.

The email previously sent this morning was INCORRECT. The STAR Writing “Nuts and Bolts” Training Session scheduled for tomorrow, February 21, 2008 and Tuesday, February 26, 2008 is at 3:30 p.m. (NOT 2:30 p.m.) at the Ballard Parent Center.

STAR Update

Dear Principals and/or STAR Site Coordinators:
 
The STAR Writing “Nuts and Bolts” Training Session for Site Test Coordinators is scheduled for tomorrow, February 21, 2008 (for schools starting with A-J) and Tuesday, February 26, 2008 (for schools starting with K-Z) at 2:30 p.m. at the Ballard Parent Center.  The Ballard Parent Center is located at 2375 Congress Street, San Diego CA 92110.
This session is intended to provide training to STAR Site Test Coordinators relative to processing of test materials and training of site staff in the administration and security issues of the assessment.
