Oxford University Press, the Kohlberg Foundation and Kunhardt Productions, which produced the PBS series Freedom: A History of US, will host a teacher workshop to introduce elementary, middle and high school teachers to the award-winning Freedom: A History of US textbook and its accompanying multi-media educational program. Teachers will have the opportunity to meet author Joy Hakim and learn about the resources available to them through the FREEDOM website, including lesson plans and student activities. Teachers will also learn how to integrate the 10-part PBS series (narrated by Katie Couric), accompanying website and print resources into the classroom. Lesson plans for all grades will be provided, and a drawing will be held for free giveaways. Attendees will also receive a goodie bag with books, posters, videos and CDs related to Freedom: A History of US. The workshop will take place at the Salk institute, 10010 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on October 15, 203. For more information, or to receive an invitation, call Oxford University Press at (800) 334-4249.
