District
teachers who recently achieved National Board certification
were honored and recognized by the Board of Education at its
June 10th meeting. They were also feted aboard the "High
Spirits" on June 14th in an annual celebration cruise event
for National Board certified teachers hosted by the William
D. Lynch Foundation for Children. Superintendent Alan Bersin
and San Diego Education Association Terry Pesta were also along
for the cruise. Including this group of newly-certified teachers,
there are now 106 National Board certified teachers in
the district. Read the list of newly certified teachers here.
Achieving National Board certification is a demonstration of
commitment to the improvement of teaching and learning in the
classroom. Certification is achieved through a rigorous program
of professional growth and development. For more information
about National Board certification, visit the National
Board website, or contact Velvet Wright at (858)496-1867
