Parent Involvement Training Opportunity
On June 24-25, the California PARENT Center of San Diego State University (SDSU) will present, "Using Parent Involvement to Increase Student Success and Academic Achievement" at the Orange County Office of Education. This leadership development conference will offer training in a research-based model for family, school and community partnerships and is designed to increase student achievement. One unit of university credit is available for a fee. The event flyer and registration form are available online. Safe Routes to School Project Grand Opening at Euclid
On Saturday, June 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., the City Heights Planning Staff and Euclid Revitalization Action Program Committee will celebrate the completion of their first Safe Routes to School Project (SR2S), which includes street improvements located next to Euclid Elementary. Councilmember Jim Madaffer and a representative from Councilmember Toni Atkins' Office will cut the ribbon during the grand opening ceremony. Mayor Murphy may also be in attendance, but has not yet confirmed. In support of the Mayor's Urban Forest Initiative, People for Trees will plant 50 trees along Orange Avenue that day.
