Scenes from Schools

Lafayette Elementary School students in Room B-12 were recently asked to go beyond the literal when thinking about the meanings of certain sayings and clichés. Here's a sample:

Don't pop someone else's bubble - Maybe it means not to hurt their feelings
The stronger the wind blows, the higher your kite will fly - If you keep on trying, you will get closer to your goal.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth - You should guide your children's path.
You'll have a lot more respect for a bird after you try making a nest - It means if you be mean to birds and kick down their nest, it takes hard work to make another one with only two feet. So if you were a bird and someone came and kicked your nest you would not like it because you would have to make another one and make sure the baby birds in the next are O.K. So how would you like it if you were in the bird's shoes and how would you like it if someone kicked your next down?

Del Sol Academy has started its first intramural tournament. High school students at Del Sol are participated in a round robin tournament with the championship games and runner up games the last week of April. The next competition will be an over the line tournament to begin this month. Uniform shirts and prizes are being donated by local businesses and teachers.
