The
district's Partnerships in Education program is marking
its 21st year of existence with 47 new partnerships and
214 new Regional Occupation Program (ROP) and School
to Career partners. District partners come from all spectrums
of the community: arts, business, community/nonprofits, education,
financial, high tech, science/research, government, military,
hospitality/restaurants and service clubs. As the sheer numbers
of partnerships increases, the value of these unique relationships
expands as well. Partnerships today provide a variety of services,
including classroom tutoring, mentoring, support for school
fundraisers, helping to integrate service learning in subject
areas, career awareness opportunities, technology support, in-kind
donations of lab equipment, office supplies and computers, and
parenting classes and speakers on health and safety issues.
The new partners
were recognized at the Board of Education meeting April 9. Learn
more by visiting the Partnerships
in Education website. |
