A student-run credit union at Hoover High School will be opening next month as the result of collaborative project development involving Hoover's Regional Occupation Program (ROP) class and Mission Federal Credit Union. Called the Hoover High Campus Branch and Career Center, the facility will open May 7 as full-service branch open to qualifying members in the City Heights community and the community at large. The students enrolled in the program receive classroom credit, unpaid/paid internship credit, community college credit at San Diego City College, and community service hours. The program is designed for students to participate in for one to two years. The program offers five class periods a day, although eachstudent is only eligible to work in the branch during one class period per day.
