Patrick Henry High School is celebrating the completion of its long-awaited beautification project. Students, staff and special guests recently dedicated the school’s completely renovated quad and newly landscaped campus.
“Our students will benefit by having at least 40 new trees, five new lawns, and about 20 new planter/seating areas that will provide a lot of shade when the trees have grown a larger canopy,” said Principal Pat Crowder. “It will also provide more instructional space. We now have a small curved wall around a circular concrete circle that can be used as a small stage. We were able to include an electrical outlet in that area, so our ASB can provide music and other student performances during lunch. This will be our students' focal point at lunch, and with the small grass knoll, students can sit comfortably for additional viewing.”
“The quad and other lawns near our classrooms have helped make our campus much more inviting and useful as learning environments,” Crowder added. “As some staff pointed out, ‘We look more like a college now.’"
