John Groll recently earned the designation of Certified Professional Public Buyer through a program sponsored by the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) and the Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council (UPPCC). The designation communicates to the taxpayer that the public employee who manages tax dollars has reached a specific level of education and experience and is knowledgeable about government purchasing.
The Facilities Planning and Construction Department recently received a check for $119,761 from San Diego Gas & Electric as part of an incentive program called “Savings by Design.” The district earned the money for the energy efficient features that were designed and built into Lincoln High School.
Hoover High School student Rocio Hernandez has been recognized as the Outstanding Youth Volunteer by the San Diego Prevention Coalition for her efforts to prevent drug use through the Latino Youth Council.
