Design for their recent donation of school and art supplies.

De Portola Middle School students, pictured with the crew from the Miramar Fire Station, take pride in helping
others when disaster strikes. After the recent fires, the school’s Builder's Club, ASB, and staff decided to sponsor
fundraisers to support the fire fighters who lost their homes while saving others. To date, the students have
raised more than $4,200

Joseph Campano of Merrill Lynch San Diego learned first-hand what it means to run a school when he participated in
“Principal for a Day” at Scripps Ranch High School. Campano is joined by the real Scripps Ranch High principal,
Donna Campbell. A total of 180 business and community members visited school sites during the October 19 event.

Challenger Middle School received a $1,000 donation from international engineering services company and long-time
partner-in-education AMEC. The donation will support the school’s new Community, Attitude, Tolerance and Scholarship
(CATS) character education program developed by School Psychologist Toula McCarley and Principal Sheelagh Moran.
AMEC Manager Barry Snyder presented the check to Parent Volunteer and Educational Partnership Coordinator Pam
O'Donohoe in October.
