Ethics Office Are You Making the “Right” Choice?
Ask the Ethics Office

By now, you’ve seen the Ethics Code and know we have an Ethics Office. But you may still be wondering, what is ethics really about?

Our jobs often involve tough decisions where the “right” course of action is far from clear. The Ethics Office is here to help. Not “the ethics police,” the Ethics Office is available to promote and support employees as we strive to make a difference for kids. A training program is being piloted this fall to familiarize employees with the Ethics Code, offer opportunities to discuss the underlying values and gain practical tools for dealing with gray areas and dilemmas.

In addition, the new ethics website at www.sandi.net/depts/ethics contains helpful information, tools, tips, and links, including:
  • An overview. Why ethics? What does an ethical culture look like? What do ethics have to do with high performance?
  • A detailed explanation of the Ethics Code, with examples and further links.
  • A short, self quiz. Have fun testing your ethics knowledge.
  • Frequently asked questions and answers: Can I start an outside business? Can I have a part-time job? Can I accept Charger tickets from my students?
  • Updates about the Fraud Hotline. What issues are being reported and what’s happening as a result?
The new website was developed by ROP website design students at the Crawford High Multimedia and Visual Arts School. Thanks to teacher Gail Lake, her students and, most notably student Anh Duong, for their hard work in creating the site.
