Employee Input Welcomed


Superintendent Carl Cohn Superintendent Carl Cohn announced September 19 that he will be retiring from the San Diego Unified School District effective December 31, 2007.

The Board of Education has already begun planning the selection process for the next Superintendent of Schools. Under the terms of an existing agreement, the Board is working with superintendent search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates on a timeline and criteria for selection.

As part of the process, opportunities will be available to students, parents, teachers, employees, administrators, community members and others to help develop a leadership profile for the new district leader.

Meetings are being scheduled with district leadership and employee bargaining unit leaders to provide feedback on the desired qualities and characteristics of the new superintendent. A special Board of Education meeting will be held on Saturday, October 20, to provide public input. Written feedback is also encouraged and welcome.
