Hearst Elementary gets new ground as Sherman Elementary breaks ground

Hearst Elementary School in the Del Cerro area recently received a landscape makeover. Besides 6,687 square feet of hybrid Bermuda grass, the school received more than 50 containers/flats of shrubs, flowering groundcover, and ivy. The project was funded by Proposition MM.

Sherman Elementary Groundbreaking Ceremony
Fourth- and fifth-graders from Normal Heights Elementary School sing the “Sherman School Song” during the groundbreaking ceremony for rebuilding Sherman Elementary School. The students are, from left, Heide Aleman, Vanessa Ochoa, Stephanie Deleon, Ashley Corral, Adeline Roman & Monica Calderon. All attended Sherman before it closed last year.
