La Jolla Playhouse Sunday Night Educator's Series
La Jolla Playhouse has created the Educator's Night Subscription series, which makes it possible for SDCS employees to attend plays for only $25 each at designated Sunday evening performances. The Sunday Night Educator's Series is open to everyone who works within the K-12 school system of San Diego County. The first play in the series of six is the world premiere of "Zhivago" on Sunday, June 4, at 7 p.m. A casual pre-show dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. For information or to subscribe, go to

Mission Savings Challenge
Mission Federal Credit Union (MFCU) is sponsoring the Mission Savings Challenge during Credit Union Youth Week, April 23 through April 29. Each student who opens a $100 Mission savings account earns their school the opportunity to win $1,000. Three schools in San Diego County will each win $1,000. Mission Federal will also waive the $5 membership fee for any account opened as part of the savings challenge. Project ARK
Homefront America, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and serving military service members and their families announces the launching of Project ARK (At Risk Kids). The pilot, scheduled to get underway on July 15, is a unique Civic Leadership and Educational pilot program designed to sponsor 20 military dependent children who are suffering from deployment stress and anxiety. The pilot is open to all military dependent children - active duty, guard, and reserve, between the ages of 13 and 16 years. Participants will have the opportunity to fly in a C-17 military cargo transport from March Air Force Base to Honolulu, berth with the Sailors on the Battleship U.S.S. Missouri for a week, and attend a workshop on leadership skills, problem solving, team building and resiliency. For information, visit the Homefront website.

Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall Event
The Veterans Museum & Memorial Center in Balboa Park is hosting the Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall Event from Friday, May 5, at 10 a.m., through Sunday, May 7, at 8 p.m. The replica of the Vietnam Wall Memorial allows veterans, family members, friends and San Diego citizens to experience the impact of "The Wall" firsthand and to pay their respects to those who died during the Vietnam conflict. The event will begin on Friday, May 5, at 10 a.m., for Educational Day. Teachers are invited to bring their students free of charge to receive a guided tour of the wall.
