Fourth and fifth grade students from North Park Elementary
invited Congresswoman Susan Davis to a Town Hall meeting on October 27. The students asked Davis questions about the
war in Iraq, alternative fuels and gun control. The Congresswoman phrased her answers in a very relevant way for the
students. The event culminated with a presentation of a Panther Award to the Congresswoman for her mentorship and
representation.

Congressman Bob Filner visited Twain Morse High School
on October 27 to recognize counselors Melissa Barker, Patricia Khalifa, and Ethel Lapham for their outstanding
work in opening a continuation high school campus with only a month’s notice. The counselors worked countless
hours to prepare the campus and instructional program for students. During his visit, Filner visited several
classrooms and engaged students in a rich discussion about our country and government. The experience was equally
rewarding for Twain’s staff, community partners and students.
