 On November 28, 2005, San Diego High School senior Jose Mondragon was honored by Congresswoman Susan Davis for his extensive community work. At a ceremony held at San Diego High School, Davis presented Mondragon with her 2005 Hispanic Heritage Community Award. Mondragon maintains a 3.81 GPA and is the Commissioner of Community Services for the Associated Student Body. He is a fervent advocate for educational opportunities for immigrant and working class students. In June, Mondragon was asked to speak at the California Public Utilities Commission hearing where he spoke about the lack of affordability in accessing the Internet for many residents in the community. Davis made the award presentation in front of members of the San Diego High Associated Student Body, Principal Karen Wroblewski, and community representatives.
