Dr. Carl A. Cohn to Join SDCS On July 23, 2005, the San Diego City Schools (SDCS) Board of Education held a special meeting of the board and, following public testimony, unanimously voted to hire Dr. Carl A. Cohn as the next Superintendent of San Diego City Schools. Cherokee Point: A World-Class Elementary School When the new Cherokee Point Elementary School opened its doors on September 6, 2005, its principal, Dr. Rich Cansdale, hoped it would be the first of many exciting and memorable experiences for the students, parents and staff at this City Heights school. Ibarra Elementary: An Exciting Place to Learn Even though her name might suggest otherwise, Principal Susie Sovereign doesn't plan to "reign" over the new Herbert Ibarra Elementary School.
