DWA Password Self-Service System
The DWA Password Self-Service System Adobe PDF , which allows employees to reset their own DWA passwords, has a new and improved look. This time-saving system eliminates the need to contact the IT Help Desk if a password is forgotten or needs to be reset. Start by enrolling at https://pss.sandi.net . Changes to Employment Regulations for Classified Service
The Employment Regulations for the Classified Service of the San Diego Unified School District  Adobe PDF have been changed and were approved by the Board on January 22. The new “Employment Regulations” are posted in the Labor Relations section on the HR Home web page. Copies will not be mailed to individual employees. Semi-Annual Safety Inspection and Report
The district Injury and Illness Prevention Program requires that all sites conduct a semi-annual safety inspection to identify unsafe conditions. The next semi-annual site safety inspection should be completed and the report form  Adobe PDF submitted to Physical Plant Operations by Thursday, May 1. Work orders will be initiated to address any potential hazards identified on the form. Deadline for Purchase Card Pick-up is Wednesday, May 7

Purchase cardholders who have been notified by Fiscal Control that their cards are available must pick up their cards no later than Wednesday, May 7. On May 7, cards can be picked up outside the Ed Center auditorium between 1 and 3 p.m., and in Ed Center room 3251 between 3 and 5 p.m. Cards that are not picked up by this date will be destroyed and the purchase card accounts will be closed. Contact Julie Nguyen at jnguyen1@sandi.net or Sandy Davis at sdavis@sandi.net with questions.

Family Friendly School Certification Preparation Meeting
All schools are invited to send a representative to gather information and begin to prepare for the Family Friendly Evidence-Based Certification  Adobe PDF process at meetings being held Tuesday, April 29, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. or 4-5 p.m., at the Ballard Parent Center. Family Friendly team members will be on hand to explain the requirements for certification as well as an alternative process for schools with family-friendly practices already in place. The team will assist in preparing for the gathering of evidence and provide an opportunity for one-on-one consultation. District Trainings
  • Mandated Campus Security Training
    A three-day mandatory School Safety and Security training for campus security assistants will be held April 21- 23, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Marina Village, Room E1. The full series provides the 24 hours of training required by the Ed Code. Participants who complete and pass the trainings will receive the school district required Certificate of Completion and be able to work more than 20 hours per week.   • April/May Purchase Card Training
    The final Purchase Card Trainings for this school year will be held Thursday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to noon, and Wednesday, May 7, from 1 to 3 p.m., in the Ed Center auditorium. Employees must attend one training session in order to become a district purchase cardholder or approver. Please Note: Wednesday, May 7, is the last day to pick up purchase cards.   • Textbook Ordering Workshops in May
    The Instructional Materials Department is conducting Textbook Ordering Workshops for personnel responsible for the general ordering of textbooks. Workshops will discuss allocations, guidelines, and a current adoption overview. All workshops will be held at the IMC from 1-3 p.m. The breakdown of sessions include Grades K-8 on Monday, May 12; Grades 9-12 on Thursday, May 15; and Atypical and Make-Up Session on Friday, May 16. Resource Development Opportunities for Schools
  • The Western Growers Charitable Foundation School Garden Program
    This program provides up to $1,500 to start and maintain gardens at every school, regardless of income requirements, in California and Arizona. Sunday, June 1, is the application deadline for spring cycle grants. For information, visit www.wga.com.


  • Target Arts Grants
    Target Arts Grants fund programs that make arts and cultural experiences accessible to children and families, such as cultural festivals, free outdoor concerts and artist residencies in schools. Student Opportunities
  • Brower Youth Awards recognizes six young people, ages 13-22, in North America annually for their outstanding activism and achievements in the fields of environmental and environmental justice advocacy. Each winner receives a $3,000 cash prize, a trip to San Francisco for the award ceremony and wilderness camping trip, and ongoing access to resources and opportunities to further their work at Earth Island Institute. San Diego Parent University Third Quarter Parent Classes
The final series ( Adobe PDF English |  Adobe PDF Spanish ) of free classes for parents for this school year will be offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., at the Ballard Parent Center. Classes run Tuesday, April 22 through Wednesday, June 11, and are designed to equip parents with information and skills that will help their children succeed academically and develop and enhance positive behavior. Journey to Academic Success Parenting Classes
The Ballard Parent Center is offering a free class for parents on Thursday, April 24, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Tubman-Chavez Multicultural Center. The topic is Can We Talk Adobe PDF and is designed to help parents improve communication with their children around issues like self-esteem, sex and peer pressure.
