Important Dates, Deadlines for PeopleSoft Financial 8.9 Upgrade
The new PeopleSoft Financial Application is scheduled to ‘go live’ on Monday, October 15. In preparation, there are
some important deadlines, events and instructions for employees who use the Financial Application. This includes
everyone submitting or approving eProcurement requisitions, Travel Authorizations and Expense claims. Visit

Principal for a Day Deadline is Friday
The Community Relations Department is currently matching schools with guest principals for Principal for a Day on
Friday, October 19. All middle and high schools and many elementary schools have already been matched. Elementary
principals who would like to invite their partner in education or a prospective partner should contact Ellen Tiffany at

Central Office Employees Wanted for Baldrige Taskforce
The Baldrige Education for Performance Excellence is seeking 25- 30 central office employees to serve on the
Baldrige Central Office Taskforce.
Management, non-management, classified and certificated employees are
encouraged to participate. Meetings will be held every 6 – 8 weeks. If you are interested in participating,

Mandatory Purchase Card Training for Central Office Staff
The district is switching from procurement cards to a new online purchase card program. Mandatory training sessions
regarding this change are being conducted for all procurement card approvers and cardholders. Central office
departments will be trained first. (Training sessions for school sites will be conducted in October and November.)
All Central Office approvers and cardholders should attend a training tomorrow, September 25, or Thursday,
September 27, from 3 to 5 p.m., in the Education Center auditorium. Be sure to bring your current procurement
card to the training. It will be exchanged for a new purchase card from Wells Fargo Bank. No RSVP required.

Service Learning 101
A Service Learning 101
conference is being held Tuesday, October 30, from 8:15 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., at the Marina Village Conference Center.
Principals, teachers and other interested individuals are encouraged to attend. Bonnie Benard, renowned expert
in the field of service learning, is the keynote speaker. Registration fee is $49. A limited number of
scholarships are available to district personnel on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration deadline is

School Site Council Trainings
The Program Monitoring Department is offering a one-hour School Site Council (SSC) training in September. The
training will provide information about implementing Title I mandates as well as tips for holding SSC elections
and increasing parent involvement. Register for the training online at

Morse, Patrick Henry and Madison high schools have been selected by the National Academy Foundation to participate in a
pilot project of national engineering academies. A total of 13 high schools across the nation will be part of the
program, which will address the national engineering work force shortage as well as high school students’ proficiency
