Board President’s Scholarship Award
Monthly classified employees who are interested in becoming teachers are encouraged to apply for the Board President's Scholarship Award Adobe PDF. The Cognos Reporting Warehouse is Here
Cognos is a web-based tool designed to provide district staff with the ability to report and obtain a variety of student data in one place. Data for current students, including schedules, grades, absences and test scores, is available. Reports display data at a district, site, classroom and student level based on user access. Central Office Employees Wanted for Baldrige Taskforce
The Baldrige Education for Performance Excellence is seeking 25- 30 central office employees to serve on the Baldrige Central Office Taskforce Adobe PDF. Enter Contest to Rename ‘6 to 6’
The Extended Learning Opportunities Department is sponsoring a contest Adobe PDF to rename our “6 to 6” program. All SDUSD employees, students, parents and provider agencies are eligible to enter. The winner of the contest will receive a “Purple Cow” and pizza party for a school site’s before and after school program. A Salute to Teachers
The San Diego County Teacher of the Year Awards Adobe PDF will be held Saturday, October 6, at 7 p.m., at the Civic Theatre in the Downtown San Diego Concourse. Showcase Your Partnership at the Ed Center
Schools and departments are invited to showcase their partnerships in education at the Eugene Brucker Education Center. Bulletin boards (72” long x 44” wide) located outside the Community Relations office can be reserved for one month. More than one bulletin board may be available. Grant Writing Workshop
The Office of Resource Development is available to conduct workshops to help teachers, staff and parents apply for outside funding and navigate the district’s required procedures. School Site Council Trainings
The Program Monitoring Department is offering six one-hour School Site Council (SSC) trainings in September. The training will provide information about implementing Title I mandates as well as tips for holding SSC elections and increasing parent involvement. In October and November, two-hour hands-on trainings will be offered about the role and responsibilities of School Site Councils and English Learner Advisory Committees.
Refresher Course on Office Depot Online Ordering

CSET Prep Courses for November Exam
The district's Teacher Preparation and Student Support Division will offer California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) Prep Courses for the upcoming November 3 exam. Classes begin Thursday, October 11. Courses are available for Single Subject English Adobe PDF, Single Subject Science Adobe PDF, Single Subject Mathematics Adobe PDF, and Multiple Subjects Adobe PDF. Courses are free for district employees; $60 for others. Blues SchoolHouse Program is Free to Grades 5-12
The International House of Blues Foundation is again offering the Blues SchoolHouse program free to SDUSD students in grades 5-12. 2008 Best Buy Teach Awards
Applications are now available for the 2008 Best Buy Teach Awards, which award innovative use of technology in K-12 classrooms. This year, more than 1,500 schools will receive Teach Awards of $2,000 to $10,000. Last year, San Diego Unified received the $250,000 National Best Buy Teach Award. Lend a Hand to Wilson Middle School
Wilson Middle School will receive a $35,000 makeover as part of Volunteer San Diego’s annual Hands On San Diego event on September 22-23. Walk to Raise Awareness, Funds for Psoriasis

5K Asthma Walk
