Board President’s Scholarship Award
Monthly classified employees who are interested in becoming teachers are encouraged to apply for the
Board President's Scholarship Award.
Two recipients will be selected to receive a $1,000 check. The application

The Cognos Reporting Warehouse is Here
Cognos is a web-based tool designed to provide district staff with the ability
to report and obtain a variety of student data in one place. Data for current students, including schedules, grades,
absences and test scores, is available. Reports display data at a district, site, classroom and student level based

Central Office Employees Wanted for Baldrige Taskforce
The Baldrige Education for Performance Excellence is seeking 25- 30 central office employees to serve on the
Baldrige Central Office Taskforce.
Management, non-management, classified and certificated employees are

The Extended Learning Opportunities Department is sponsoring a contest

The San Diego County Teacher of the Year Awards

The Office of Resource Development is available to conduct workshops to help teachers, staff and parents apply for

School Site Council Trainings
The Program Monitoring Department is offering six one-hour School Site Council (SSC) trainings in September. The
training will provide information about implementing Title I mandates as well as tips for holding SSC elections
and increasing parent involvement. Register for any one of the six trainings online at

October and November, two-hour hands-on trainings will be offered about the role and responsibilities of School

CSET Prep Courses for November Exam
The district's Teacher Preparation and Student Support Division will offer California Subject Examinations for
Teachers (CSET) Prep Courses for the upcoming November 3 exam. Classes begin Thursday, October 11. Courses are
available for Single Subject English,
Single Subject Science,
Single Subject Mathematics,
and Multiple Subjects.
Courses are free for district employees; $60 for others. The registration form

2008 Best Buy Teach Awards
Applications are now available for the 2008 Best Buy Teach Awards,
which award innovative use of technology in K-12 classrooms. This year, more than 1,500 schools will receive Teach Awards
of $2,000 to $10,000. Last year, San Diego Unified received the $250,000 National Best Buy Teach Award. The deadline to

Walk to Raise Awareness, Funds for Psoriasis
