Starting today, families have the option to enroll their child(ren) for the new school year while school sites
are closed. The pilot Central Enrollment Center, located at
Roosevelt Middle School, can register students new to the district, multiple siblings and students attending
a different school from the previous year. The center will be open in July and August.
Families continue to have the option to enroll at their neighborhood schools, which typically open the week

New improvements to eProcurement, Travel Expenses, and other tasks in PeopleSoft Financials will be available
to employees in Fall 2007. One new feature, ePro DirectConnect, will allow users to purchase items directly
from popular vendors. The new feature will help expedite the purchasing process and save money. The
Information Technology (I.T.) Training team is developing a series of job aids and online tutorial
demonstrations to assist with learning more about DirectConnect. For information, visit the

Clark Hosts Eighth-Grade Retention Program
Clark Middle School is hosting
eighth grade students from Wilson, Montgomery, Mann, Farb and Language Academy (year-round sites) beginning
Monday, July 23, through Thursday, August 16, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This additional instruction time is
in compliance with Administrative Circular 113. For

Up to $5,000 for School Music Education
Through its Grants for In-School Music Projects, the
Mockingbird Foundation supports
programs that involve music education for children ages 18 and under. Grants range from $50 to $5,000 in value.

Wednesday, August 1.

Grants Promote Excellence in Math and Science
The Toshiba America Foundation aims to
promote quality science and mathematics education in U.S. schools. Grants are made for programs and
activities that improve teaching and learning in science and mathematics, grades K-12. The Foundation
focuses its grant making on inquiry-based projects designed by individual teachers, and small teams of
teachers, for use in their own classrooms. The
application deadline for requests of more
than $5,000 is Wednesday, August 1.

SDUSD students who completed high school graduation requirements too late to participate in June graduation
can participate in a formal commencement ceremony on Friday, August 3, at 2:30 p.m., in Golden Hall.

Fox 6 News’ Ruben Galvan featured students
from Monroe Clark Middle School last week, preparing for their Giant Puppet Parade to Rosa Parks Elementary.
The puppets are based on the students’ study of Mayan and Aztec cultures. A photo was also featured in the
San Diego Union Tribune.
