Last Day for Year-Round, Summer Schools is Friday
The last day for students at year-round schools and most summer school programs is this Friday, July 20. Central offices will remain open for business throughout the summer. School site administrators report back on Thursday, August 23; contracted teachers report back on Wednesday, August 29. The first day for students is Tuesday, September 4. Have a safe and restful summer break.
IMC and TMC Closed August 6 - 24
The Instructional Media Center (IMC) and Teacher Media Center (TMC) will be closed from August 6 to 24 to accommodate the completion of the new Center for Educational Technology. District Pilots Central Enrollment Center in July, August
This summer, families have an additional option for enrolling their child(ren) for the 2007-08 school year. The district will pilot a Central Enrollment Center Adobe PDF at Roosevelt Middle School when school sites are closed. Center staff will be able to register multiple siblings, students new to the district, and students attending a different school from the previous year. Food Services Increases School Meal Prices
The Board of Education has approved an increase in meal prices for the 2007-08 school year, effective September 4, 2007. The new school meal prices are:
Elementary Breakfast - $ .75
Elementary Lunch - $ 1.50
Secondary Breakfast - $ .75
Secondary Lunch - $ 2.00
Parents can prepay for school meals by sending cash or a personal check to the school cafeteria. Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card payments can be made over the phone at (888) 994-5100 and via the internet at www.paypams.com. Students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals will still receive free meals after completing the appropriate paperwork.

The Christian Science Monitor published an article about the nationwide debate on Muslim prayer in public schools. The Arabic language program at Carver Elementary is included in the article.
