Funding Alerts
• Disney Minnie Grant
The Walt Disney Company and Youth Service America are offering grants of up to $500 to support youth-led service projects. Service can take place between October 1 and November 26, 2007. Projects can address themes such as the environment, disaster relief, public health and awareness, community education, hunger, literacy, or any issue that youth identify as a community need. The application MS WORD deadline is Thursday, August 30.

• Balboa Park Museums Offer Summer Workshops
Take advantage of the unique partnership between the district’s Discover Program and Balboa Park. The San Diego Museum of Art and the Reuben H. Fleet Science Centers will each offer a summer workshop Adobe PDF at a reduced rate for SDUSD employees: The Discover Program will also offer a Basic Life Support course in July and August. • SES Provider Fairs
The district’s Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Department is sponsoring seven Providers Fairs Adobe PDF this summer, beginning Saturday, July 21. Parents of students eligible to receive free tutoring through SES can meet tutoring service providers and determine which ones best meet their child’s needs.
• Summer Commencement Ceremony
SDUSD students who completed high school graduation requirements too late to participate in June graduation can participate in a formal commencement ceremony on Friday, August 3, at 2:30 p.m., in Golden Hall.
