Did You Know? Publication Being Delivered to Sites
Did You Know? shares information about significant achievements, honors, awards and recognitions at the local, state and national levels earned by the district, schools, teachers, staff and students. Copies of this year’s Did You Know? are being delivered to all school sites for distribution to students to take home. Additional copies will also be delivered to schools and central offices for employees. It is also available online, on the front of the website, at www.sandi.net/about/dyk07.pdf Adobe PDF.
2007-08 Free & Reduced-Price Meal Application Packets
Any unused 2006-07 Free & Reduced-Price Meal Application packets should be returned to the Food Services Certification Desk at the Revere Center for disposal. The 2007-08 Free & Reduced-Price Meal Application packets and materials will be distributed to year-round and summer school sites beginning July 12. Delivery to traditional school sites will begin August 21. Each student must receive a meal application packet on or before the first day of school. Flyer Approval Procedures
Outside organizations that want to distribute flyers and literature to district students must obtain prior approval from the Office of the Deputy Superintendent, room 2232 at the Ed. Center. Administrative Procedure 9350 Adobe PDF outlines the process. For information, contact Elaine Lindberg at elindberg@sandi.net or (619) 725-7104. Please Note: The distribution of outside flyers, posters and other literature to employees is at the discretion of the principal or site administrator. Requestors should not be sent to the Ed. Center for approval.
Sale and Disposal of Obsolete Text and Library Books
Administrative Procedure 2805 Adobe PDF outlines methods for the sale and disposal of obsolete district textbooks and library books. Sites choosing to discard textbooks being replaced by newly-adopted materials or any obsolete library materials should submit a Textbook Transfer Document MS Word. IMC Will Close August 6–24
The Instructional Media Center (IMC) and Teacher Media Center (TMC) will be closed from August 6 to 24 to accommodate the completion of the new Center for Educational Technology. Moodle Summer Upgrade and End-of-Year Course Maintenance
A major Moodle upgrade will take place this summer between July 25 and August 20. During the upgrade, Moodle will be completely offline and all student work will be deleted. Moodle users should visit the Educational Technology (EdTech) website for instructions on what to do before the upgrade takes place. Parent Celebration
The Harold J. Ballard Parent Center and San Diego Parent University will host the final Parent Celebrations for this school year on Tuesday, June 26, and Wednesday, June 27, from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m., at the Ballard Center. Support Adapted P. E.
The Adapted Physical Education Department is selling tickets to the La Jolla Festival of the Arts,to be held June 23 - 24. The event raises money to benefit individuals with disabilities in the San Diego area. The tickets are $10 and a portion of the proceeds support the Adapted PE program. Uptown Community Design Workshop
The City of San Diego invites interested parents, students and community members to attend a workshop Adobe PDF to help develop ideas and get feedback on the Hillcrest Corridor Mobility Plan. In The News
Gompers High School, which graduates its final class on Tuesday, was spotlighted in two San Diego Union-Tribune articles. The article titled “Gompers High saying farewell to final class” was published June 16. The following day, the newspaper ran an article highlighting the 28-year career of Gompers music teacher Sharletta Richardson. She will follow her students to the new Lincoln High School, where she will be the choir director.
