SDUSD is currently conducting an Employee Satisfaction Survey to get feedback on district strengths and areas for improvement. Everyone is encouraged to take a few minutes to complete the survey by Friday, June 15. All responses will remain anonymous and confidential. Survey results will be made available in the fall. Deadline for High School Student Achievement Awards is Tomorrow
The Board of Education will recognize outstanding high school students on Tuesday, June 12. Nomination instructions and forms are posted in Administrative Circular No. 124 Adobe PDF. Ed Tech Summer Camp 2007 for Teachers
The Educational Technology (Ed Tech) Department has announced the schedule for its annual Summer Camp for Teachers. This year's professional development sessions will focus on two State EdTech Profile Standards: Standard 9 - Using technology in instruction, and Standard 16 - Using technology to engage students in their curriculum work. Support Our Troops Week “Thank You”
Thanks to all the students and schools that participated in the district’s Support Our Troops Week postcard writing campaign and other activities. An estimated 100,000 postcards have been received and will be sent to our troops overseas. Morse High School took the top prize for the most postcards returned with nearly 1,500 submitted. Miller Elementary had the highest percentage of student participation with nearly 100% of the students writing messages of support. These two schools will be treated to an ice cream social, courtesy of Xerox. For information, contact Edward Caballero at ecaballero@sandi.net.
Summer Enrollment for SES Free Tutoring Program
The NCLB Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Department is getting a jump-start on the 2007-08 enrollment for free tutoring by starting in July. Informational booklets Adobe PDF will be mailed in mid-July to parents of eligible students and seven Provider Fairs for Parents Adobe PDF are scheduled. Little Heroes Essay Contest
Outstanding citizens age 5 – 18 can be selected one of 20 San Diego Padres Play Ball Kids by entering the Little Heroes Contest Adobe PDF. Winners will receive four tickets to a Padres game, a t–shirt and baseball cap, the opportunity to watch batting practice, and kick-off the game by announcing “Let’s Play Ball!” The entry deadline is Saturday, July 1. Free Family Storytelling

KGTV-10 News aired two stories recently that featured San Diego Unified students and schools. Students from Dana Middle School were in the spotlight as winners in the “There Ought to Be a Law” essay contest. San Diego Chargers cornerback Cletis Gordon and California Highway Patrol officers joined Morse High seniors at a rally sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Balboa Elementary was honored for its math program by Intel Corporation with a 2007 Intel School of Distinction Award. As the only elementary school in the U.S. to receive this honor, Balboa caught the attention of KPBS-FM, KGTV-10, La Prensa, and Business Wire
