Partnerships in Education End-of-Year Survey Now Online
The Partnerships in Education End-of-Year survey is now available online. Principals, directors/program managers and partnership liaisons are asked to complete and submit the survey to the Community Relations Department by Friday, June 1. Help with Employee On-the-Job Injuries

Professional Development
Ethics Workshop Offered: "10 Things You Should Know: Sound Business Practices for Sites."
Offered by the Ethics Office and the Office of Internal Audits and Investigations, this two-hour workshop Adobe PDF will be held May 22, 23, and 24, 1 - 3:00 p.m. at Marina Village. Community Service/Service-Learning Training for Educators
The Community Relations Department and Volunteer San Diego are offering “Service Learning 101” on Thursday, May 24, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., at the United Way Building, 4699 Murphy Canyon Road. Principals, teachers, staff and parents are invited to attend this “hands-on” training that will explore the elements of creating effective projects that integrate community service with academic learning. Textbook Ordering Workshop
The 2007-08 Textbook Ordering Workshops for staff responsible for ordering instructional materials are being held at the Kearny High Complex Library:
  • Secondary schools on Friday, May 18, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Elementary schools on Monday, May 21, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

CSET Prep Courses
The district's Teacher Preparation and Student Support Division will offer California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) Prep Courses to prepare teachers for the July 21, 2007 exam. Classes begin Tuesday, June 5. Courses are available in Single Subject English Adobe PDF, Single Subject Science Adobe PDF, Single Subject Mathematics Adobe PDF, and Multiple Subjects Adobe PDF. Courses are free for district employees; $60 for others. Urban League Seeks Student Nominations
The Urban League of San Diego County is seeking nominations for the Golden Pyramid Academic Scholars program Adobe PDF. Students of African/African-American descent in grades 1- 12 with a 3.0 + GPA (excluding PE) or whose 2006 CAT6 scores in reading, language and math were above the national norm (50th percentile) are eligible. Phi Delta Kappa Annual Kappan Night
Gompers Middle School Principal Vincent Riveroll and Community Council for Music Co-Founders Mary McKenzie and Ann Marie Haney will be honored by Phi Delta Kappa at their annual Kappan awards dinner. In The News
The district’s 2007-08 Teachers of the Year were featured in an article in the May 10th edition of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Rudy Ortiz, Courtney Browne and Elizabeth Ward, along with 157 school site teachers of the year, were recognized at the May 8 Board of Education meeting.
