Mandatory School Technology Survey due Friday, March 16
The California School Technology Survey, which collects data that measures the progress of technology integration
in classrooms, must be completed by one person at every school site by Friday, March 16. Completion of the survey

Free Tutoring for P.I. School Students
The Supplemental Education Services (SES) program,
part of No Child Left Behind (NCLB), provides free tutoring to children who require additional assistance and attend
a Program Improvement (P.I.) school. SES is currently enrolling students for the second semester. Free tutoring
booklets (English
| Spanish
) have been mailed to parents of eligible students. The application deadline is Friday, March 30. For

Certificated Openings at Florence Griffith Joyner Elementary
The first list of certificated vacancies for Florence Griffith Joyner Elementary School, opening in fall 2007, will

Call for NIE 2007 Teacher of the Year Nominations
Nominations for the San Diego Union-Tribune's Newspaper in Education (NIE) "2007 Teacher of the Year" award are
due Friday, March 16. NIE is looking for a teacher who utilizes the newspaper in the classroom and is a "go to"
teacher for NIE. The winning teacher will be honored at the Greater San Diego Reading Association (GSDRA) annual

Refresher Course on Office Depot Online Ordering Procedure

Public Auction Set for April 5
The district is holding a public auction on

The SDUSD Discover Program is offering
Teaching Theatrical Skills:

Earth Day Poster Contest for Elementary Students
Senator Barbara Boxer is sponsoring a poster contest for elementary school students in celebration of Earth Day
on April 22. The theme is “What I Am Doing to Improve Our Environment – Earth Day 2007.” Posters must be 8˝”
x 11” and only crayons, magic markers and colored pencils can be used. The winning posters will be displayed
on Senator Boxer’s website and in her Senate offices. All entries

Dana Middle and Sunset View Elementary volunteer yearbook advisor Deni Baughn was
profiled in the March 8 edition of the
Peninsula Beacon. Lifetouch Publishing – a leading producer of yearbooks for elementary, middle and high schools –
recently appointed Baughn to its yearbook think tank committee.
