| Eligible
members of the Office-Technical and Business Services (OTBS) bargaining
unit may elect to participate in a reimbursement program related to professional
development. The fund is set aside to encourage unit members to continue
their educational and professional development, to promote activities
which will assist unit members in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary
to improve job performance, and to promote the opportunity for unit members
to reach the maximum level of their professional potential.
Unit members who voluntarily participate in professional development activities related to job-connected skills or potential careers with the district may qualify for a reimbursement of educational expenses up to a maximum of $75 per person per semester (spring; summer or fall - maximum of two semesters per year) for tuition, registration, books, and/or laboratory fees. Reimbursement is dependent upon receiving a grade of "C" or better or a pass/credit for nongraded courses. Eligible unit members are active monthly employees in the OTBS Bargaining
Unit who have completed their initial one-year probationary period with
the district. Each eligible unit member must have a satisfactory work
record with no overall "requires improvement" Only course work from accredited colleges or universities, business, or technical schools approved by the State Department of Education will be accepted for participation in this program. Continuing education classes and workshop classes are not eligible for participation in the program. All applicants will receive notification of the status of their application within 60 days of the application deadline.
