Brief Explanation:

All high schools will be able to access their Choice, Magnet, and/or Voluntary Ethnic Enrollment Program (VEEP) wait lists online for the 2002-2003 school year on April 8, 2002. Elementary and middle/junior high sites may access their wait lists online April 15, 2002. Additionally, all sites will receive a hard copy of their wait lists through school mail according to the dates indicated above. To access your site's wait lists please consult the user guide titled Enrollment Options Reports, which can be found in your Enrollment Options Handbook or on the district's web page. (http:/www-isb.sandi.net/isb/publications/index.html)

The Choice, Magnet, and VEEP wait lists contain the names of applicants who applied between October 1, 2001 and March 15, 2002. Applications received after March 15, 2002, will be added to subsequent lists and released online to school sites approximately every four weeks. Schools must access subsequent lists online. Hard copies of subsequent lists will not be sent to schools.

Each wait list has been randomized, ranked by program priorities, and sorted by grade level. It is important that students are offered enrollment in the order of the lists. If you find an error, please call Yolanda Jurado at (619) 725-5674 and your list will be corrected and re-released to you.

Documenting Dispositions

Schools must access their lists and complete the dispositions online in a timely manner. It is imperative that dispositions be completed as you work your way down the lists. Do not leave the disposition without documentation as you enroll students. All schools are required to have dispositions filled in for each student offered enrollment before summer break.

Siblings

To receive a sibling priority the application must have been filed between October 01, 2001 and March 15, 2002. Applications filed after March 15, 2002, do not receive sibling priority. They are added to the wait list in date and time order. It is important to note: If a student is enrolled and has a sibling on the list for another grade level, that sibling is not to be moved to the top of list and enrolled.

Verify Addresses

If a student is currently enrolled in the district, the information in SIS is assumed to be correct. Enrollment Options staff attempted to contact every parent who provided a different address on their application than the one in the district SIS system. If a student was not in the district system (i.e., a kindergarten student) the address provided was not verified. It is important that all resident addresses are verified when enrolling students.

If a family has moved from your VEEP pattern, they should not be enrolled. Magnet schools should also verify the cluster the child resides in before enrolling the student. If a student no longer resides at the address that placed them in a particular high school cluster, they should be moved to the correct high school cluster and enrolled in the correct order.

Transportation

A transportation application must be completed for each new magnet or VEEP student enrolled in order for transportation to be scheduled for the student. A packet of VEEP and Magnet Transportation forms will be included with the wait lists sent to schools. Please return the transportation forms to the Transportation Department by June 3, 2002 to assure transportation for the first day of school in September.

If you have any questions, please call the Enrollment Options Office at (619) 725-5672.
