Brief Explanation: The Spring 2001 recommended booklist has been compiled to assist elementary and middle schools in the selection and purchase of books for independent reading. San Diego City Schools’ classroom teachers who have received inservice training in the review process have reviewed the books. The selection process emphasizes integrated curriculum, state and district standards, and adherence to state legal criteria. To assist you in selection of titles that will be most appropriate for your students, you are invited to review these books, which are on display at the Instructional Media Center. Attached is the recommended list in two formats. Attachment 1 includes the publication information plus a brief annotation describing the contents of each book. Attachment 2 lists the same books as an order form with the list prices indicated. If you have questions, please call Barbara Forster, IMC curriculum resource librarian, Instructional Media Services, at 858-496-8459, or e-mail at bforster@mail.sandi.net.
