San Diego City Schools is pleased to offer opportunities for eligible employees to receive information about the CalPERS long-term care program which is available on a self-pay basis.

This coverage is sponsored by the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) and is endorsed by the State Teachers' Retirement System (STRS). It is available to all PERS and STRS members and their spouses, parents and parents-in-law, but you must apply by June 30, 2001.

To learn more about long-term care coverage, which provides benefits for medical care services not normally covered under an individual's medical plan, you may call 1-800-266-1050 to request an information packet.

Additionally, two information meetings have been scheduled for San Diego City Schools employees. At these meetings, a program representative will describe the coverage and answer questions.

Since the meetings are being held at the Eugene Brucker Education Center, reservations will not be required and spouses are welcome. Attendance at a workshop is voluntary. Employees who wish to attend must make arrangements with their supervisors if release time is needed.
