Brief Explanation:

The Office of the Superintendent, Support Systems, has assumed additional functions of assisting parents of special education students. We will continue our existing functions of assisting parents who make telephone inquiries, responding to written correspondence, processing "Complaint Against an Employee" forms, and Grade Change Request forms. In addition, Support Systems staff members will respond to telephone inquiries and district level written complaints regarding special education students, as we have in the past for general education students. The Support Systems office is located at Eugene Brucker Education Center, Room 2153, telephone (619) 725-5525, and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The majority of inquiries from parents of special education students are about the implementation of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for the student. As with all other inquiries to Support Systems, the parent will be referred to the site principal if they have not yet contacted the principal about the specific concern. If the parent has contacted the principal and the concern is still unresolved, the concern will be forwarded to Tricia Harris, Support Systems administrator, for resolution with the parent and the school.
