Brief Explanation:

Schools enrolling students in any of Grades 4-8 may be eligible to apply for Education Technology Staff Development Program grant funds. A school’s grant may range up to $20 per fourth- to eighth-grade student enrolled at the school. This program is intended to train teachers and administrators to use technology as part of the curriculum.

Note: Schools funded in 1998-99 or 1999-2000 must reapply to be funded in 2000-01.

Preliminary eligibility requirements include:

  • Computers are located in core curriculum classrooms, not in a lab or library.
  • Ratio of students to computers is no more than 10:1.
  • Classroom has Internet access—either every computer has access or the computer(s) with access also have a projection device.
  • Computers are up to date, multimedia computers with a CD-ROM.

The deadline for submitting the one-page application to the Grants Office is Monday, December 4, 2000.
