Brief Explanation:

San Diego City Schools is sponsoring retirement planning workshops for employees covered by the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). All employees covered by PERS are eligible to attend a retirement workshop.

During the workshop, members will receive information on all PERS issues related to planning for retirement, the retirement process, and postretirement considerations. A PERS representative will explain how a retirement allowance is calculated with an emphasis on selecting the best retirement date.

All workshops will be held at the PERS office located at 7676 Hazard Center Drive, Suite 350. A schedule indicating the date and time for each of the workshops is shown below. Attendance for each workshop is limited to 25 (including spouses). Reservations are required. To make a reservation, or for information about the workshop, employees should call (877) 720-7377, (which is the telephone number for all eight California regional PERS offices), and ask that a representative from the San Diego PERS office give you a call. Please call early because classes fill up quickly.

Also, you may fax your request for a reservation directly to the San Diego PERS office at (619) 220-7201. Please include your name, address, home and work telephone numbers, social security number, and the workshop date you wish to attend.
