No. 511
Date: September 29, 2000
To: Principals, Vice Principals, Central Office Managers and Child Development Center Administrators
Subject: ACCESS TO FINGERPRINT STATUS ON NEW EMPLOYEES
Department and/or
Persons Concerned:
Managers and Site Administrators (Bargaining Unit 7)
Reference: None

Brief Explanation:

All prospective employees must have their fingerprints cleared before they can begin working.

Therefore, all prospective employees to San Diego City Schools are required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for a background check and clearance before starting work. The district uses electronic fingerprinting called Applicant LiveScan to obtain this clearance.

All managers now have access to the LiveScan fingerprint screen. This allows managers to verify the status of their prospective employee’s fingerprints to determine if they have cleared, are experiencing a delay, or still pending. School Police will continue to notify the sites when a fingerprint clearance is received.

To locate the instructions for "Checking Fingerprint Results through LiveScan," click on the following link: http://www-tss.sandi.net/isb/publications/index.html . This will assist managers to use the LiveScan screen or set up an account if necessary. If further assistance is needed, online help can be accessed from the Help menu, choosing Help Topics. If there are additional questions, contact Colleen Mc Clain at (619) 725-8033 or cmcclain@mail.sandi.net.
