Effective with the 2000-2001 school
year, students who apply and are enrolled as a Magnet, VEEP, or Choice
student must remain in the school/program for the school year. Students
may no longer return to their geographic school of residence during the
school year or at the semester/intersession. Transfer request forms
submitted during the school year will be denied by central office unless
both principals agree to the transfer and sign the transfer request form.
The only approved exception to the transfer policy is during the first 10 days of school in September. Central office will approve transfers for students who are accepted into Magnet, VEEP, or Choice programs due to enrollment openings at the school they had applied to attend prior to the start of school. Transfer request forms submitted during the first 10 school days, for a student accepted into a different Magnet, VEEP, or Choice program, do not require both principals’ signatures. A new Integration and Choice Program Transfer Request form is available in the Material Procurement Department (Purchasing). Schools may order the form at no cost by calling 1 (858) 496-8025. The forms are available in both English (#22-I-5050) and Spanish (#22-I-5060). Directions are printed on the back of each form for parents and schools. The new forms have a place for the principals of both schools to sign if they agree to the transfer of the student during the school year.
