Brief Explanation:

San Diego City Schools is pleased to announce the implementation of the 401(a) retirement plan effective

March 1, 2001, for the Office-Technical and Business Services (OTBS) and Operation-Support Services (OSS) bargaining unit members. All employees who had an active assignment in the OTBS and OSS bargaining units during the plan year, July 1, 1999 - June 30, 2000, are eligible for participation.

The district and representatives from the California School Employees Association (CSEA), on behalf of OTBS and OSS bargaining units, have selected the American General Financial Advisors/Variable Annuity Life Insurance Co. (AGFA) to provide the education and enrollment services. Means and Associates will provide the record-keeping and administrative services. The investments will be offered through Scudder-Kemper Trust Company.

Please see the attached informational meeting schedule and plan to attend the meeting most convenient for you. Financial advisors from AGFA will make presentations and answer questions regarding the 401(a) retirement plan. At these meetings, eligible employees will be able to enroll in the plan or schedule individual consultations to conduct more in-depth investment planning. It is important to attend one of the meetings if you are interested in enrolling in the retirement plan. Spouses are encouraged to attend these informational meetings.
