Acrobat PDF files: In accordance with Article 21 of the Collective Negotiations Contract between San Diego Unified School District and San Diego Education Association, unit members may job share their individual assignment with another unit member during the school year. Job-sharing assignments allow two unit members to share one (1) budgeted assignment which the unit member actually works. The health and welfare benefits available to each unit member are determined by the actual time worked, but shall not exceed the cost of the equivalent of one (1) position’s entitlement to health and welfare benefits. All job-sharing assignments must be made with the mutual consent of the site administrator and the unit members involved in the same assignment. Maximum Participation Job-share assignments should be limited in number to a maximum of one (1) percent of the full-time positions in the bargaining unit. Approval Process Unit members who are interested in participation in the job-sharing program must meet all of the following criteria: · permanent status with the district; · appropriate credentials for the proposed assignment; · effective ratings on all elements of the most recent evaluation. Conditions of Participation Job-sharing assignments shall be limited to a term of one (1) school year, with renewal by mutual agreement. The district may cancel a job-share assignment at any time if one partner in the job-share can no longer continue in that assignment or if in the judgment of the principal/supervisor, the responsibilities of that assignment are not being fulfilled in an effective manner. In the event that one (1) job-sharing unit member is unable to complete the assignment, and in the further event that another qualified job-sharing unit member is unavailable to assume the job-share assignment, the district may terminate the assignment and return the remaining job-share unit member to full-time service. Upon termination of a job-share assignment, the participant with the required credential and greater district seniority will have the right of assignment to the budgeted position. (This right may be waived if both partners stipulate to the waiver in their original job-share proposal.) The other participant will not have a right of seniority over other teachers who are regularly assigned to that cost center. During the period of the job-share assignment, absences shall be covered by the job-share partner (with payment at the daily substitute rate) or by a district-provided visiting teacher. Trading of work days by job-share partners shall be at the discretion of the principal or designee. In all cases, absences shall be reported as the appropriate leave categories (e.g., sick leave & bereavement leave). Payroll Unit, Human Resource Services Division (HRSD), must be informed of any changes to workdays. Application Procedure Permanent certificated employees submitting an application to participate in the Job Sharing Program shall identify their partner and the two shall jointly submit a completed Job-Sharing Agreement (Attachment 1), together with a calendar (Attachment 3). Participants must also complete the Health and Life Insurance Benefits form (Attachment 2). If principal/supervisor approves, proposal should be submitted to HRSD, for final approval. Once the board approves the work year calendar for 2001-02 academic school year, one will be made available and needs to be submitted to principal/supervisor for approval by May 1, 2001. Please know that the job sharing forms (Attachment 1, 2 and 3) can be printed from the district webpage (www.sandi.net). Duplicate forms as needed. Job share packet should be submitted to HRSD, Eugene Brucker Education Center, Room 1241.
