Brief Explanation: |

|
Staff and student data will be reported this fall to the California Department of Education in the California Basic Educational Data System (CBEDS) report. Most of the data will be collected from Education Center sources, but certain data are available only from schools. CBEDS Data Collection Contacts. Secondary and certain atypical schools must complete the attached CBEDS Contacts Survey. Provide names and telephone extensions of staff with primary responsibility for completion of the CBEDS Assignment Information Survey, review of Grade 12 students for nonseniors, documentation of nondropouts on the drop roster, and/or the CBEDS Computer Technology Survey. Return the survey by September 13. CBEDS Computer Technology Survey. On September 18, schools will receive a CBEDS Computer Technology Survey for reporting the number of computers in instruction-related use in the school, the number of classrooms using the Internet, and the number of classrooms on a Wide Area Network (WAN). The survey should be returned by October 6. CBEDS Certificated Administrator Survey. On October 9, each certificated administrator not known to have a doctorate will receive a CBEDS Certificated Administrator Survey. The survey will show the highest educational attainment as of October 1999; it is completed only if a higher degree has been attained or the information provided is incorrect. Completion of this survey is the responsibility of the individual administrator; the survey should be returned by October 13. Certificated Professional Assignment Information. Certificated staff assignment data are collected from the district’s main computer files; incomplete or missing data are collected directly from schools. (Resource teacher and physical education assignments are often incomplete.) Schools will provide the missing data on the CBEDS Assignment Information Survey, which lists teachers whose assignments are incomplete. The survey will be sent to schools October 9 and is to be returned by October 20. Count of Seniors. Schools will review lists of their Grade 12 students to identify those who are not seniors. Lists will be received on October 17 and should be returned by October 27. All items are to be returned to the Accountability and Research Office, Eugene Brucker Education Center, Room 3110. For your convenience, a calendar of activities is attached. Please direct questions to Gary Knowles at (619) 725-7194. Fall 2000 CBEDS Data Collection Calendar
