Subject:   SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT CARD 2000–01
Department  and/or  Persons  Concerned:   All School Principals, Department and Division Heads
  Due Date:   January 26, 2001 and February 26, 2001
  Reference:   None
Action  Requested:   Designate SARC contact person; edit and revise School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs) for publication

Brief Explanation:

School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs) will be issued in April and May of 2001. SARCs will be prepared by each school and published by the Accountability and Research Office.

To minimize costs and reduce the burden of preparing, publishing, and distributing report cards, the following practices will be maintained:

  • The amount of narrative text in the SARC will not increase.

  • Schools shall do minimal revision of last year’s SARC. However, schools should revise the narrative to ensure it is current.

  • Submission of the SARC will be in paper form, showing changes, deletions, and additions to last year’s SARC.

  • Schools are to distribute SARCs to students to take home.

  • Schools need not have a separate community meeting devoted solely to the SARC. The required SARC meeting may be incorporated into another regularly scheduled meeting.

 Action Dates:

  • January 26, 2001: Send completed "Contact Person and Translation Service Request Form" (attached) to Rudy Glivings, Accountability and Research Office, Eugene Brucker Education Center, Room 3110. Details of SARC development are spelled out in the SARC packet that will be sent on January 30, 2001, to the designated contact person for each school.

  • February 26, 2001: Send SARC draft (revised 1999–2000 SARC) to Rudy Glivings, Accountability and Research Office, Eugene Brucker Education Center, Room 3110.

Please address any questions to Rudy Glivings at (619) 725-7196 or Peter Bell at (619) 725-7193.
