Brief Explanation:

In January 2000, the Accountability and Research Office launched a Student Achievement Data System application that enables site staff to view and sort student achievement data from standardized tests, district assessments, report cards, and site-based alternative assessments. The system is accessible via an IBM-compatible PC that is set-up to access the Student Information System Client/Server over the district’s internal network. It offers additional access to student achievement data beyond that available through AERIES or SIS data queries. The Student Achievement Data System is designed to help school staffs use school- and classroom-level data more effectively to make informed decisions about instruction, professional development, and school programs and practices. Attachment 1 illustrates some of the system capabilities.

Use of the system is voluntary. However, to ensure system security and appropriate use, attendance at a training session is required prior to accessing the data system. Eight additional training sessions have been scheduled for February and March 2001 (see Attachment 2). Reservations are required due to training room capacity. Please complete the reservation form (Attachment 2) and return it by January 30, 2001, to Gloria Ustica, Accountability and Research Office, Eugene Brucker Education Center, Room 3110. You will receive a confirmation prior to the training session.

Questions about the training sessions or about computer system configurations should be directed to Karin Alvarado, microcomputer applications training specialist, 619-725-7197. General questions may be directed to Sally Bennett at 619-725-7190.
